Russia continues to ramp up production of drones and other aircraft amid the war in Ukraine. In April of this year, aircraft production volumes more than doubled compared to the same period last year.

Bloomberg writes about this.

According to the agency, in April 2026, the production of aircraft in Russia, including drones, increased by 117% year-on-year. The main reason for this jump is the needs of the front and the constantly high demand for drones.

At the same time, the average production growth in the Russian aviation industry during 2025 was 68%.

Bloomberg also recalls the words of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, who previously stated that in 2026 Russia plans to produce 7.3 million FPV drones and 7.8 million combat units for various types of drones.

In addition, since the start of the full-scale war, the Russian army has received dozens of new combat aircraft. These include 64 Su-34 and Su-35 fighter-bombers, as well as 12 Su-27 aircraft.

According to official statistics provided by the agency, in the first four months of 2026, production in the Russian aircraft industry increased by another 78%.

Volodymyr Tkachuk, a representative of the Uraldronzavod enterprise, said that the struggle between means of destruction and protection systems on the battlefield is only intensifying, and this is pushing manufacturers to further develop unmanned technologies.
