Drone race: Syrsky announced a new stage of confrontation with Russia
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrsky, stated the need to develop new solutions in the field of unmanned systems. The reason is that the enemy is adapting to Ukrainian methods and actively imitating successful technologies.
These statements were made during a regular meeting dedicated to the development of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Intelligence reports that the enemy is actively adopting our innovations, particularly in the area of interceptor drones. We are actually in a technological race. The winner will be the one who not only improves, but also gets ahead. Our task is not to stop and create new technologies and tactics for using UAVs,” Syrsky emphasized.
Russia is changing its approach to the use of drones — Ukraine responds by scaling up its electronic warfare capabilities
The Commander-in-Chief also drew attention to the fact that the Russian army continues to increase the radius of action of its drones, which creates new challenges for Ukrainian defense. In response, Ukraine is expanding its electronic warfare (EW) capabilities, and there are already noticeable results.
In August, according to the general, the number of enemy drones that were successfully suppressed by Ukrainian electronic warfare means increased.
Over 60 thousand targets per month: statistics on hits by Ukrainian Armed Forces UAVs
According to the General Staff, in August alone, Ukrainian drones destroyed over 60,000 enemy targets. The bulk of the enemy’s losses were caused by kamikaze strike drones and bombing drones, which demonstrate the highest efficiency in terms of enemy equipment and manpower.
Let us remind you that the Russians are intensifying their air strikes on Ukrainian cities, as they are rapidly increasing the production of attack drones.
As reported, between 2022 and 2025 , Russia allocated at least $3 billion to develop its own drone industry , in particular, kamikaze attack drones of the Shahed type.
It is worth noting that recently the Russians have significantly accelerated construction at the Alabuga plant in the south of the Russian Federation , where Shahed-type strike drones are manufactured.
