On the evening of September 30, an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle was spotted flying near the airport in the Norwegian city of Brønneisund.
The incident was reported by dispatchers at approximately 8:17 p.m., NRK reports , citing local police.
At 9:50 p.m., law enforcement officers arrived on the scene, but the operator was still unidentified. According to Morten Sorensen, a spokesman for the Norwegian Nordland County Police, the drone had been in the air for some time, but the search for the person who was flying it had yielded no results.
“We saw a drone in the sky, but were unable to determine where it was being operated from. After a lengthy survey of the area, the search operation was completed,” Sorensen said.
This is not the first time that airspace has been violated near the airport. A similar incident occurred on Sunday evening, September 28. Then, one of the Widerøe airline planes was forced to change course and land at another airport.
Despite the danger, this time the airport continued to operate as usual. According to Avinor spokeswoman Carolina Persen, the last flight on September 30 landed on schedule. The airport is expected to resume full operations on the morning of October 1.
Recall that the day before yesterday, an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle was recorded flying over one of the strategic facilities in Norway – the Equinor gas field located in the North Sea.
As reported, flights of unidentified drones were recorded in Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, Norway and Finland , some of which flew near military facilities and strategic infrastructure.
