Drones and counter-UAVs: Estonia to increase military assistance to Ukraine
Estonia is preparing a new military assistance package for Ukraine, which will include drones and counter-drone equipment.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The parties are also working on an agreement on the joint production of weapons for the Ukrainian military in Estonia.
During the conversation, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov informed his Estonian counterpart Hanno Pevkur about the consequences of another massive shelling of Ukraine, during which Russian troops used about 70 missiles and hundreds of drones.
Fedorov emphasized that the key priority remains the development of a distributed air defense system and increasing the effectiveness of destroying strike drones. It is in these areas that Ukraine, together with its allies, is focusing joint efforts.
The Minister of Defense thanked Estonia for its commitment to provide security assistance to Ukraine at the level of at least 0.25% of GDP each year, as well as for its contributions to the PURL initiative.
Fedorov separately noted the role of Estonian partners in the IT coalition. According to him, thanks to Estonia’s technological leadership, Ukraine is scaling digital solutions, including online services for the military.
“Ukraine is ready to openly demonstrate the operation of such products as DELTA and the situational awareness system in the sky. Ukrainian defense innovations will be available to Estonia for testing without bureaucratic barriers,” the Ministry of Defense noted.
It was previously reportedthat Sweden and Denmark agreed to jointly purchase and transfer air defense systems to Ukraine for a total of 2.6 billion Swedish kronor (290 million euros).
As a reminder, Yuriy Igrat, head of the communications department of the Air Force Command, stated that Ukraine lacks missiles for air defense systems, so sometimes some complexes are empty.
