Drones attacked a large refinery in Yaroslavl: a fire broke out at the plant

Explosions were heard in Yaroslavl, Russia, on the morning of August 28, followed by a large-scale fire at a local oil refinery. According to preliminary reports, the plant was attacked by drones.

During the attack, residents of Yaroslavl heard explosions. Russian air defense forces, according to local residents, tried to shoot down the drones. However, a fire broke out on the territory of the Yaroslavl refinery.

There is currently no information on the extent of damage or possible casualties.

This is the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery, also known as “YANOS”. It is one of the largest enterprises in the oil refining industry in Russia. The plant is part of the Slavneft structure, which is jointly owned by Rosneft and Gazprom Neft.

The enterprise is capable of processing about 15 million tons of oil per year. The plant produces gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel, fuel oil, bitumen and other products.

YANOS is of great importance for the fuel system of Russia. Its products are used to meet the needs of industry, transport and law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation. In particular, the plant produces aviation fuel, which can be used to supply Russian military aviation.

The causes of the fire and the exact consequences of the attack have not yet been officially established.

As reported, on the night of Thursday, August 27, drones attacked logistics facilities of the Russian marketplace Ozon in several cities at once. The company confirmed the attack on complexes in Ufa and Orenburg, and in Blagoveshchensk, Republic of Bashkortostan, a fire broke out in a warehouse after reports of explosions.
