On the night of Tuesday, May 19, drone attacks were reported in several regions of Russia. Explosions were heard in the Moscow region, as well as in the Yaroslavl region.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that Russian air defenses allegedly shot down several drones flying towards the Russian capital. According to him, at least three drones were destroyed on their approach to the city. He later reported that another UAV was shot down. Emergency services were working at the sites of the debris.
The authorities of the Yaroslavl region also announced the drone attack. They temporarily restricted traffic on the way from Yaroslavl to Moscow and tightened security measures.
Local Telegram channels reported that the target of the attack could have been an oil refinery or oil pumping station. However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed.
Currently, the Russian authorities traditionally report on the work of air defense, and information about possible consequences and damage is still being clarified.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced strikes on a number of facilities in Moscow and the Moscow region, including a refinery, an oil depot, and a microelectronics production facility.
