Local media reported that the attack targeted the Storozhova substation. It was also noted that other nodes of the power system could have been affected, causing a power outage throughout the city.

Some channels reported that the Luch CHP in Belgorod was hit. After that, according to their data, the power went out not only in the regional center, but also in surrounding settlements, in particular in Shebekino and the Belgorod district.

The fact of damage to the infrastructure was confirmed by the Governor of the Belgorod Region, Vyacheslav Gladkov.

“Preliminarily, there are no victims. There is serious damage to the infrastructure facility. All emergency services are working on the ground. Information about the consequences is being clarified,” wrote Vyacheslav Gladkov.

In addition, reports of rocket strikes were coming from Orel. According to Russian and pro-Ukrainian publics, explosions were heard in the city near the local thermal power plant. After that, residents reported power and water outages.

Local channels note that the attack in Orel was aimed specifically at energy infrastructure facilities. No official statements from the Russian authorities regarding the consequences of the strike on Orel have been made public at the time of publication.

Information on the extent of damage and restoration of power supply in both regions is being clarified.

According to media reports, 556,000 people in the region are without electricity. Almost the same number are without heat. Almost 200,000 local residents have no water or sewage system.
