Drones attacked Russia’s largest oil loading port on the Baltic Sea

On the night of March 23, explosions were heard in the port city of Primorsk in the Leningrad Region of Russia, followed by a fire at an oil terminal. The attack damaged a fuel tank, the facility was shut down, and personnel were evacuated.

The Governor of the Leningrad Region, Alexander Drozdenko, stated that the region was attacked by drones, which were allegedly destroyed by air defense and electronic warfare means.

“A fuel tank was damaged in the port of Primorsk, a fire broke out. Firefighting is underway, personnel have been evacuated,” said Alexander Drozdenko.

According to him, more than 50 drones were allegedly destroyed over the region.

At the same time, according to NASA Firms , which tracks fires around the world, a fire was also recorded in Primorsk at port infrastructure facilities.

The port of Primorsk is the largest Russian oil port on the Baltic Sea and the terminus of the Baltic Pipeline System. It handles a significant portion of Russian oil exports by sea.

The facility is located approximately 920 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
