At night, drones struck the Belgorod Dam, causing serious damage to the dam and a sharp drop in the water level in the Seversky Donets. As a result, Russian military positions were flooded, and enemy logistics in the Volchansky direction were significantly complicated.
This is reported by Russian media.
Drone attacks continued throughout the night and day. The dam was critically damaged, began to leak water, and the water level in the reservoir dropped by more than a meter.
Flooding was recorded in the area of the village of Grafivka and downstream of the Seversky Donets River. There are dugouts of the Russian military, in particular units of the 128th, 116th, 68th and 136th brigades of the Russian Armed Forces, which operated in the Volchansky direction.
Local authorities reported flooding of ten plots of land in Shebekinsky District and the evacuation of sixteen local residents to temporary accommodation points. Some people moved in with relatives.
According to Russian media, on October 24, the Belgorod Dam was hit by a missile strike allegedly by HIMARS systems. Buildings with technical equipment, the lifting mechanisms of one of the locks, and the dam crest were damaged.
The 16th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that after the strike, the dam began to leak water. According to the military, this led to the flooding of dugouts and significantly complicated the enemy’s logistics.
“The units that crossed the Seversky Donets actually found themselves cut off from the main forces. This significantly complicates the enemy’s supply and movement,” the military unit noted.
Russian Telegram channels also report that water from the reservoir has begun to actively drain after the shelling. The reports indicate that the water level has dropped by more than a meter, and the dam structure continues to allow flow.
Analysts emphasize that damage to the Belgorod Dam could have a significant impact on hostilities in the region. One of the key logistical supply lines for Russian troops in eastern Ukraine passes through the region, and the flooding of certain areas significantly complicates the movement of equipment and transport.
It was previously reported that Russian troops in the Volchansk direction lost some of their positions due to a deterioration in logistics after the attack on the Belgorod dam . The water level in the reservoir dropped sharply, which led to flooding and cutting off some Russian units from the main forces.
By the way, in the Belgorod region of Russia, a drone attack destroyed a bridge near the village of Staroseltsevo , which was part of the logistical routes of the Russian military.
