Drones attacked the Leningrad region: the port of Ust-Luga was under attack

On the night of August 14, drones attacked the Leningrad region of Russia. Local authorities announced the destruction of 37 drones, as well as damage in the area of the large port of Ust-Luga.
This is reported by Russian media.
According to the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, the drones were allegedly shot down by air defense systems. At the same time, the official confirmed damage in the area of the port of Ust-Luga, but did not specify which facility was affected and how serious the damage was.
What is known about the port of Ust-Luga?
Ust-Luga is a large commercial seaport in the Russian Federation, located on the shores of the Luga Bay of the Gulf of Finland, approximately 100 km from St. Petersburg. It is a large-scale port complex with terminals for transshipment of various types of cargo, including oil and oil products, coal, LNG, mineral fertilizers, timber, containers, and other cargoes.
In particular, the port plays an important role in Russian exports, especially after the reorientation of a significant part of cargo flows from European destinations. According to industry estimates, in January 2026, Ust-Luga accounted for 47.4% of the Baltic Basin cargo turnover.
It was previously reported that the Ukrainian Defense Forces had damaged a large oil refining and petrochemical complex “Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat” in Bashkortostan. On the morning of August 13, local residents reported smoke in the area of the enterprise.
In addition, a fire broke out on the territory of the large Wildberries logistics complex in Bashkortostan on the night of August 13. According to preliminary data, the facility may have been hit during an attack by Ukrainian forces.
