The Russians are using tankers from the so-called “shadow fleet” to launch and control drones aimed at European countries. The Baltic Sea and other waters should be closed to Russian ships, and sanctions against the Kremlin’s energy exports should be tough.

This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during an evening video address on September 28.

“There is now intelligence information that the Russians are using tankers to launch and control drones that they launch against European countries,” Zelensky said.

He stressed that the Baltic and other seas should be closed to Russian tankers. The President of Ukraine also stressed the need to tighten sanctions to limit energy trade by Russia.

“It is especially important that the sanctions hit Russia’s energy trade and the entire infrastructure of Russia’s tanker fleet,” Zelensky noted.

The Head of State also expressed hope for the adoption of the 19th package of sanctions against Russia next week and decisive steps by the United States.

“Very mean blows. And this is what characterizes Russia – what they do, not what they say or send out various signals around the world. They have rejected all real peace proposals and deserve really tough pressure,” the President emphasized.

Zelensky stressed that he hopes for concrete actions from Washington after his conversation with US President Donald Trump.

“We also count on strong steps from the United States of America. We talked with President Trump about what could really push Russia to change its position and stop the war,” Zelenskyy said.

It was previously reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky, during an informal conversation with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly , allegedly requested to provide Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles .

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also said that he is ready to leave his post after the war ends .
