Drones hit oil refining giant Gazprom again – fire at plant in Bashkortostan
For the second time in a week, one of the key elements of the Russian petrochemical industry, the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat enterprise in Bashkortostan, was attacked in Russia. After the drone strike, a large-scale fire broke out at the facility.
This was announced by the head of the region, Radiy Khabirov.
According to him, all emergency services are working on the scene, and the extent of the damage is currently being determined.
Eyewitnesses posted videos on social media showing thick smoke rising above the facility, which is said to be the second attack on the facility in the past few days.
Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is one of the largest producers of petroleum products in the Russian Federation. The enterprise is strategic for the Russian economy, in particular the defense complex. Attacks on it could have long-term consequences for domestic fuel supplies.
As a reminder, on the night of September 24 , Russian regions were attacked by drones from several directions at once – the strikes fell on the Kursk and Belgorod regions, as well as the city of Taganrog in Rostov Oblast. As a result of the attacks, settlements were left without electricity, there were injuries, and industrial infrastructure was damaged.
As reported, in the Belgorod region of Russia, a drone attack destroyed a bridge near the village of Staroseltsevo, which was part of the logistics routes of the Russian military.
