Drones hit one of Russia’s largest refineries: a large-scale fire broke out

On the night of Thursday, July 2, explosions were heard in the Russian city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region. After that, a large-scale fire broke out on the territory of the Lukoil-Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery. According to preliminary data, the enterprise was attacked by drones.

This was announced by Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Serhiy Sternenko.

Local residents also reported the attack and posted photos and videos from the scene on social media. According to monitoring channels, thick smoke rose above the plant.

According to Sternenko, the target of the strike was Lukoil’s Kstovsky oil refinery. Its design capacity is about 17 million tons of oil per year. It is the fourth largest oil refinery in Russia.

The company is one of the largest producers of gasoline and diesel fuel. In particular, it supplies fuel to the Russian army.

As a reminder, on May 18, Ukrainian military attacked a refinery in the city of Kstovo . After the attack, a fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise.
