On the night of Sunday, July 12, the Defense Forces struck the Syzran Oil Refinery, located in the Samara region of the Russian Federation.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Unmanned Systems Forces reported that explosions and a fire were reported at the oil refinery.
The Syzran Oil Refinery is one of the largest oil refineries in the region and throughout Russia. Its design capacity is approximately 8.5 million tons of oil per year. The plant produces motor gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel, and other petroleum products, including those used to meet the needs of the Russian Armed Forces.
The plant has been hit by drone strikes on multiple occasions, including in April and May 2026, which temporarily shut down operations due to damage to critical equipment.
