On the morning and night of May 8, drones attacked several regions of Russia and occupied Crimea. Chechnya, the Perm Territory, as well as energy and military infrastructure facilities in Crimea were hit, where fires were recorded at a substation, a chemical plant, and near military units.
This is reported by Russian and monitoring Telegram channels.
In Chechnya, drones attacked the regional capital, Grozny. According to local sources, at least two hits were recorded: one drone fell on the territory of the 42nd Guards Motorized Rifle Division, the other near the Russian FSB headquarters in the region.
“Congratulations to Kadyrov are being conveyed by Ukrainian drones, which are attacking Grozny right now,” said Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Sternenko.
The Perm region was also hit. There, another attack was reported on one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, Lukoil-Permnaftoorgsintez. After the explosions, a fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise.
Local residents are posting videos online showing thick smoke rising above the plant. This is not the first time the facility has been hit recently.
Separately, there are reports of events in temporarily occupied Crimea. According to monitoring channels, the Krasnoperekopsk 220/35/10 kV substation is on fire in Krasnoperekopsk. A fire was also recorded on the territory of the Brom OJSC chemical plant.
In addition, explosions are reported in the Simferopol area. Presumably, the strike could have hit the Maryine district, where a military unit is located – the communications hub of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
The Russian side traditionally does not disclose the details of the attacks or comments on them partially, claiming the work of air defense and “falling debris.”
As a reminder, on the night of May 8, several Russian regions came under attack by drones. Explosions were heard in Moscow, Yaroslavl, and Rostov-on-Don, and fires broke out at industrial facilities.
