Dropping temperatures, gale-force winds and sleet: what the first half of October will be like
The beginning of October in Ukraine will be marked by typical autumn weather – cool, humid, and unstable in places. The coming days will be influenced by a cold air mass, which will bring a drop in temperature, rain, and in some places – frost.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
According to the forecast, from September 30 to October 2, cloudy and humid weather with periodic precipitation is expected in most parts of the country. The air will remain humid, and atmospheric pressure will be unstable.
“Unstable autumn weather is expected with precipitation, coolness, and wind. The cause will be the arrival of a cold air mass,” the forecasters said in a statement.
On September 30 and October 1, eastern and southeastern winds will intensify in Ukraine. In the central, southern, and eastern regions, gusts of up to 15–20 m/s are possible in places, which may create discomfort in open areas.
The warmest day is expected to be September 30, especially in the Transcarpathian region and southern Ukraine, where daytime temperatures are forecast to reach +17°C.
From October 1, the temperature will start to drop in most regions. At night, the temperature will range from +2°C to +9°C, and during the day it will be +7°C…+14°C, in the south – up to +17°C.
Particular attention should be paid to the night of October 1 to 2. Frosts on the soil surface are expected in the Western, Zhytomyr, and Vinnytsia regions – the temperature will drop to 0…–3°C.
Also, according to the Hydrometeorological Center, precipitation in the form of wet snow is possible in the Carpathian highlands, while the temperature in the mountains will fluctuate around 0°C both day and night.
It’s worth considering the weather conditions in the coming days when planning trips, nature trips, or outdoor work. Drops in temperature and humidity may be noticeable, especially in the mornings and at night.
