Drunk Kyiv resident opens fire near high-rise building

In Kyiv, police reported suspicions to a man who, while intoxicated, fired a gun in the courtyard of a residential building and frightened residents of high-rise buildings.

This is reported by the Kyiv police.

The incident occurred in the Dnipro district of the capital on Hnata Khotkevych Street – local residents heard shots and called law enforcement.

“The Dnipro Police Department in Kyiv received a report from residents of a high-rise building that shots could be heard on the street,” the police said.

An investigative and operational group and patrol officers quickly arrived at the scene. As law enforcement officers established, the 39-year-old man was in the company of friends and decided to show them his weapon.

“While intoxicated, the man pulled out a gun and fired two shots in the air, frightening the residents of the house,” police said.

Law enforcement officers detained the offender and seized a device for shooting rubber bullets. It was sent for examination.

The man was charged under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism). The police note that the sanction of the article provides for up to five years of restriction of liberty.

As a reminder, in Lviv, police officers detained a man who was shooting into the air with an air gun in the middle of the street. The incident occurred on the evening of May 14 on Hnata Khotkevycha Street.

As reported, in Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a man who opened fire in the Obolonsky district of the capital. The incident occurred on Obolonsky Avenue after a conflict between two men.
