Due to increased Russian attacks on railway infrastructure and rolling stock in the Sumy region, trains will temporarily only run to Konotop station.
The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reported this in a comment to the Public newspaper.
A bus service will be established between Sumy and Konotop. This will allow passengers to travel to Sumy via a combined train and bus route.
“We understand that this creates inconvenience for passengers who have pre-planned trips, but safety is our top priority,” Ukrzaliznytsia noted.
UZ added that the Sumy Regional Emergency Service, in conjunction with the State Emergency Service, found a way to provide bus transfers between the cities.
Railway officials emphasize that the safety situation may change daily. Therefore, passengers are advised to be prepared for changes to routes, transfers, or combined travel options.
Once the risks to passengers and railway workers have been reduced, Sumy-direction trains are planned to return to full service.
