Dynamo fired Oleksandr Shovkovskiy.

Dynamo Kyiv officially announced the resignation of head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskiy following the 2-0 defeat to Omonia of Cyprus in the fourth round of the Conference League. The entire coaching staff is leaving the club along with him.

The defeat in Nicosia was Kyiv’s third in a row—the team lost to LNZ (0-1) and Kolos (1-2) in the Ukrainian championship. This losing streak is the longest in the last two and a half years and the worst in Shovkovskiy’s tenure.

Oleksandr Shovkovskiy has been in charge of Dynamo Kyiv since November 2023. During this time, the team played 101 matches, winning 60 of them and becoming Ukrainian champions in 2025. Furthermore, under his leadership, the Kyiv team set a record unbeaten streak in the Ukrainian Premier League – 42 consecutive matches from May 2024 to November 2025. The streak ended with a 3-1 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in Matchday 11 of this season.

Igor Kostyuk, who previously worked with Dynamo’s U19 team, has been appointed acting head coach. This will be his first time coaching the club’s senior team.
