According to experts, in 2025, a similar set of products cost 1,663 hryvnias, which indicates a significant increase in expenses for preparing for the holiday.
The key element of the basket remains Easter cake. The cost of 1 kg of homemade pastries is 266 hryvnias, which is 14.6% more than last year. The increase in price is explained by the increase in prices for ingredients.
In particular, prices have changed as follows:
- eggs — by 19.3%;
- milk — by 49.6%;
- flour — by 38.6%;
- butter — by 6.8%;
- yeast — by 12.8%;
- raisins — by 14.1%.
At the same time, sugar prices fell by 18%.
Among meat products, the most expensive are smoked ham, homemade sausage, and lard . Their cost is 353 hryvnias per 0.5 kg, 287 hryvnias per 0.5 kg, and up to 123 hryvnias per 0.5 kg, respectively. Over the year, prices increased by 16.5%, 35.3%, and 0.4%, respectively.
Dairy products also affect the total cost of the basket. Hard cheese costs about 298 hryvnias per 0.5 kg, butter — 292 hryvnias, soft cheese — 157 hryvnias. Over the year, prices increased by 3.7%, 3.1%, and 31.3%, respectively.
Additional products, such as horseradish and salt , remain relatively affordable. The cost of horseradish is 31 hryvnias for 200 g, and salt is 6.72 hryvnias for 150–200 g.
If fruits, vegetables, and Cahors wine are added to the basket, its cost increases to 2,347 hryvnias, which is 16.8% more than in 2025.
In particular, the prices for vegetables are:
- tomatoes — 187–278 hryvnias per kg;
- cucumbers — 175–275 hryvnias per kg.
Apples cost 25 hryvnias per 0.5 kg, which is 17.4% more expensive than last year, and the average price of a bottle of Cahors is 189 hryvnias.
Experts attribute the price increase to the consequences of the war, including the destruction of infrastructure, reduced production, higher energy prices, and logistical difficulties.
It was previously reported that in 2026, Christians of different denominations will again celebrate Easter on different dates due to differences in calendars. At the same time, Ukraine will celebrate Easter on Sunday, April 12.
