Easter eggs, eggs and meat: what to put in your Easter basket

Tomorrow, April 12, Ukraine will celebrate Easter or the Bright Resurrection of Christ, one of the most important church holidays.
People prepare carefully for this day – they clean their homes to celebrate the holiday in cleanliness and order, and they also bake Easter cakes, dye Easter eggs, and paint Easter eggs.
According to folk customs, in the morning Ukrainians go to churches, where a festive liturgy is held. After the service, food is blessed.
The blessing of an Easter basket is considered a blessing for food consumption. This tradition began to gain popularity in Ukraine long before the present day.
An important element of the Easter basket is Easter cakes, which housewives bake the day before — on Maundy Thursday or Holy Saturday. The sweet bread symbolizes the victory of life over death and fertility.
They also carried eggs to church, painted or decorated in advance. It is worth noting that the egg symbolizes the tomb, and cracking it means the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In addition, other foods prepared in advance were placed in the Easter basket: cottage cheese, baked meat, ham, fish. Often, butter, horseradish, salt, and vegetables were added.
However, you should not take food containing blood to the temple. Among other things, it is better to leave sharp objects at home, in particular knives and forks.
