On April 12, Ukrainians celebrate Easter — the most important Christian holiday, symbolizing the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the victory of life over death, good over evil.

Ukrainians prepare diligently for this day, starting well in advance. There are many traditions for Easter, but there are also many prohibitions.

As with any holiday, you should not quarrel, swear, get angry, or curse, because Easter is considered a day of joy and peace. Negativity should be avoided.

There is no need to organize loud parties and celebrations. According to Ukrainian traditions, Easter is more of a family holiday, where relatives gather. Among other things, you should not drink alcohol excessively.

Among the prohibitions is hard work. It is better to postpone tasks that can wait and rest your soul and body during the daylight hours.

According to beliefs, Ukrainians were convinced that one should not be greedy on Easter. However, borrowing money on the holiday was an exception, they treated it with caution so as not to take wealth out of the house. They also tried not to take on debt. Despite this, there is no strict prohibition from the church.

It is worth noting that Easter has always been an important spiritual holiday for Ukrainians, so in order not to bring trouble, they strictly observed the prohibitions.

Let us remind you that at around 2:20 p.m. on April 11 , the Holy Fire descended in the Jerusalem Church of the Holy Sepulcher .
