Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s proposal for an Easter ceasefire “has a chance of being implemented.”
He wrote about this on social media, emphasizing that Ukrainians deserve a peaceful celebration without shelling.
“Ukrainians deserve a holiday without terror. We’ll see when and where silence prevails, and we’ll respond in kind,” the Foreign Minister noted.
Sibiga emphasized that a longer ceasefire could pave the way for real diplomatic processes and an end to the war.
According to him, a ceasefire is the right strategy for advancing diplomacy both in the case of Russian aggression against Ukraine and in other conflicts, particularly in the Middle East.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his readiness for the so-called “Easter truce.” According to the Kremlin, it is scheduled to be in effect from 4:00 PM on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12. Moscow also stated that it expects “mirror actions” from Ukraine.
