Ecocide in the Sea of Azov: mass death of dolphins recorded on the coast

On the coast of the Sea of Azov in the area of occupied Mariupol, as well as in the villages of Urzuf and Sedovo, mass deaths of dolphins and fish have been recorded. Local residents attribute this to the deterioration of the ecological state of the sea and pollution due to the actions of the occupiers.

This was reported by the Mariupol City Council.

Photos and videos of dead dolphins and fish washed ashore have appeared on occupation social media. Marine mammals were recorded both on the city coast of Mariupol and on the beaches in the villages of Urzuf and Sedove.

The Center for the Study of Occupation stated that the number of dolphins washed ashore in recent days is already double the figures recorded last year.

In their comments, local residents directly link the situation to the pollution of the Sea of Azov due to fuel oil and oil spills and sewage discharges.

People note that the sea is being systematically poisoned, and the ecological situation is only getting worse.

The City Council emphasizes that pollution of the Sea of Azov and rivers in the temporarily occupied territories leads to the destruction of the natural ecosystem of the region.

Since the beginning of summer, residents have been posting videos and photos of sewage and fuel oil entering the sea on social media.

The critical state of the aquatic ecosystem is already causing fish extinction. It was previously reported that the goby has almost completely disappeared from the waters of the Sea of Azov.
