Eight thousand euros per person: border guards exposed a scheme for illegal departure to Romania

Ukraine continues to expose schemes to evade mobilization. This time, the suspects are the military personnel themselves: two employees of the territorial recruitment center in Bukovina organized a channel for the illegal departure of men abroad.

This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

According to the State Border Guard Service, officers of the internal and own security department of the Chernivtsi detachment, together with law enforcement agencies, exposed two servicemen who were planning to smuggle two Ukrainian citizens to Romania. They demanded 8,000 euros from each for their “services”.

The operatives recorded the transfer of a 3,000 euro deposit, during which one of the participants in the scheme was detained. Later, law enforcement officers also caught up with his accomplice, who was waiting for confirmation from the first dealer. Both servicemen were detained and suspected.

The department clarified that the detainees are charged with organizing the illegal smuggling of people across the state border of Ukraine. They face long-term imprisonment.

The investigative actions were carried out with the participation of the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police in Chernivtsi region, the Military Counterintelligence Department of the SBU, the Investigation Department of the Main Police Department, and under the procedural guidance of the Chernivtsi Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Field of Defense of the Western Region.

Recall that law enforcement officers uncovered a large-scale corruption scheme in the Central Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC) , where officials, together with doctors, organized the illegal granting of disability groups to men of draft age. Using forged documents, they provided fictitious certificates, issued pensions, and evaded military service.

Earlier, in June, the National Police of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine exposed a powerful criminal group that was selling fake documents and copies of the official mobile applications “Diya” and “Rezerv+”.
