Elder, uncle and headquarters in London: how Zaluzhny was set up with a smokescreen

When you read social media feeds, there is a feeling of collective delirium. Almost every day someone swears: they saw Zaluzhny in Kyiv. In the subway. In a coffee shop. At the intersection. Almost on the balcony. And in a few paragraphs – clarification: they say that the election headquarters for Zaluzhny is already being deployed in London, and a familiar face is coordinating the process.

Here I would like to politely ask: Zaluzhny, it seems, is not running for mayor of London?

In short, a classic: elderberry in the garden, and uncle in Kyiv. The information fog is so thick that even common sense is lost in it. Because instead of cold analysis, society is fed gossip, instead of political logic, geographical absurdity.

Yes, Valeriy Zaluzhny does not leave the Ukrainian public space for a moment. Yes, headquarters, offices, advisors and coordinators begin to fantasize around him. This is how any major political figure works – not in a vacuum. But when, instead of talking about meanings and strategies, they start obsessively poking at “London headquarters”, it seems that someone really wants us not to look at the essence, but to quarrel over an anecdote.

Because behind this anecdote stands an old, well-known construction. Serhiy Pashinsky is not a random character and not a newcomer to “delicate processes”. His role is not to be liked, but to work. And somewhere nearby, as always, Petro Poroshenko is present – not necessarily in the frame, but in the logic of the game.

The funniest thing is that the authors of the accusations about nepotism never specify who is the godfather to whom – Zaluzhny to Pashinsky, or Poroshenko to Zaluzhny. Only Ukrainian politics is not a theater of improvisation, but rather a game of chess, where the pieces move silently.

And here the authorities make a strategic mistake. Trying to reduce everything to nepotism, backroom staff, and the “three interested parties,” they themselves remind society of a simple thing: key decisions in this country worked precisely when professional and political qualities complemented each other, not destroyed each other.

Therefore, the story about the “headquarters in London” is not an exposure. It is a smokescreen. Behind which lies the fear of a possible synergy of the creation of Zaluzhny, Poroshenko and Pashinsky. Because today’s alternative in the person of the current government is a synergy of chaos, where everyone is for themselves, and the state is for no one.

And the more elderberry in the tape, the more obvious it is: the uncle from Bankova Street in Kyiv is nervous.
