Elections in the Russian Federation: how Ukraine lost in the occupied territories

Unfortunately, the Ukrainian state missed the Russian elections as an “unimportant” phenomenon. Although this could have been used to build a cool information campaign, such as the permission to hold the parade on May 9.

Two months ago, Valeriy Chaly , Andriy Magera and I held a press conference where, in essence, we outlined a plan for an information campaign on how to delegitimize elections in the occupied territories. We were supposed to do a few simple things:

• Show online how fraud is being prepared, including reporting to the polling station level what the turnout and number of votes for United Russia should be;
• Proceedings should already have been opened against candidates for deputies, members of commissions, etc.
• A series of appeals to our citizens who live there should be made (including an address by the president).
• A major information campaign should be carried out by our embassies.

There were a number of other proposals, but there’s no point in waving your fists after a fight. Unfortunately, we gave up this battlefield without a fight. Now it’s important to play the ending to the fullest.

If we look more broadly, the elections in Russia are a kind of Rubicon after which three important processes can begin: personnel changes, mobilization, and deterioration of life.
