Elections in Ukraine: Zelensky expects proposals from people’s deputies
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the possibility of holding elections with representatives of the Verkhovna Rada.
He said this in an evening video address.
“Today I spoke with representatives of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. We spoke substantively. I will not allow any speculation against Ukraine,” the president noted.
According to him, if partners, including the key one in Washington, are talking so much about elections in Ukraine under martial law, then it is necessary to give “legitimate answers to every question and every doubt.”
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine definitely does not need pressure on this issue.
He added that he is now expecting proposals from MPs regarding his vision.
The President noted that security challenges depend on partners and, above all, on the United States.
“Political and legal challenges must receive answers from Ukraine. And this will happen,” Zelenskyy summed up.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that, in his opinion, it is time for Ukraine to hold presidential elections. He said this in an interview at the White House.
In response , Zelenskyy stated that he was ready to hold elections after speaking about the need to organize them.
He separately noted that proper conditions must be provided for voting in Ukraine .
