During its August 10 session, the Chernivtsi City Council decided to terminate memorandums with three electric scooter rental operators: Bolt, Vevi, and Jet.ua.
Zaxid.net writes about this.
The resolution was supported by 22 deputies. As noted in the draft, the reason for terminating the memoranda was numerous complaints from city residents about chaotically parked electric scooters, as well as violations of traffic safety regulations by their users.
Companies have been given 14 days to remove all electric scooters from Chernivtsi. They must also remove charging stations and other equipment installed at public amenities for servicing the vehicles.
If the requirements are not met within the established timeframe, the scooters will be transferred to a temporary storage area.
Before the decision was made, three electric scooter rental operators operated in the Chernivtsi community: Bolt, Vevi, and Jet.ua.
The issue of regulating the use of electric scooters remains relevant at the national level.
On June 11, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Transport and Infrastructure recommended that parliament adopt Bill No. 3023. The document aims to define the rights and responsibilities of users of light personal electric vehicles, including electric scooters and unicycles.
First Deputy Chief of the Patrol Police Department Alexey Beloshitsky noted that following the bill’s adoption, corresponding amendments to the Traffic Regulations are planned. These amendments should more fully regulate the use of light personal electric vehicles.
