Elon Musk is suspected of voter bribery.

American businessman Elon Musk may have violated Wisconsin election laws by handing out $1 million checks to voters during his 2025 Supreme Court campaign.

The Associated Press reports this.

According to the agency, the Wisconsin Elections Commission has forwarded two complaints to the Brown County District Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors have 40 days to review the materials and decide whether to open a criminal investigation into possible voter bribery.

As the Associated Press notes, Musk has actively joined the election campaign in Wisconsin, which is considered one of the key states in US politics.

The businessman and his affiliated organizations spent at least $20 million supporting Republican candidate Brad Schimel. However, he lost the election to Democratic candidate Susan Crawford by approximately 10 percentage points.

After his defeat, Musk announced that he would significantly reduce his political campaign spending going forward. Overall, the Wisconsin Supreme Court election cost over $100 million, making it the most expensive judicial election in U.S. history.
