“Enough” means “enough”: Poroshenko in Britain called on Western allies to demand a ceasefire
Petro Poroshenko, participating in a high-level conference on European and global security in Cambridge, called on Western partners to increase pressure on Putin and force him to cease fire .
Poroshenko stressed that the Russian dictator is buying time to continue his aggression against Ukraine.
“Our call from Kyiv is this: we must stop losing Ukrainian people. We must stop losing Ukrainian territory. And we must stop wasting time. We cannot wait any longer. An extra 50 days, an extra two weeks, an extra six months give the path to killing Ukraine. Our approach, and we expect the same approach from the coalition, “enough” means “enough”. You must give the path the opportunity to conclude a comprehensive ceasefire, and if not – “plan B”, – Poroshenko emphasized.
“Plan B” means more weapons for Ukraine, including long-range weapons, including the most effective ones. Putin must pay the price. He should have no other choice if he rejects the ceasefire,” the President believes.
“Putin does not need peace, and he is not going to sign any peace agreements. This is only a delay in aggression. Plan B is more weapons, more investment in the defense industry of Ukraine. Because the war has changed. The war is different from 2014 and the war is different from 2022. We need unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned operations and modern technologies ready to form warfare systems. And we are open to sharing all our experience with our partners,” Poroshenko said.
“Stop talking about a peace agreement. Start a comprehensive ceasefire and change Trump’s mind. Is it possible? Yes. We must firmly believe that the window of opportunity we have with Trump’s presidency is very narrow, but it exists,” Poroshenko believes.
“This war has known its ups and downs. But what this war has never known is the capitulation of Ukraine. We will never surrender. No matter what. Not in 2014, not in 2015, not in 2022, and certainly not today. The exchange of territories is not even discussed. This is not an exchange of Russian territory for Ukrainian. This is an exchange of Ukrainian territory seized by the war criminal Putin,” explains Petro Poroshenko.
“We will definitely not discuss the limitations of our Armed Forces, because this is the most effective and reliable source of security guarantees. Not only for Ukraine, but also for Europe, for the world,” Poroshenko said.
What does victory mean for Ukraine? Victory for Ukraine means preserving our nation, preserving our sovereign and independent state, bringing it into the European Union and, of course, becoming a member of NATO,” said Petro Poroshenko.
