Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believes that reaching an agreement to end the Russian-Ukrainian war is possible in the near future.

He stated this after a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Turkmenistan, Reuters reports.

According to Erdogan, Türkiye is ready to continue supporting peace initiatives and facilitating negotiations.

“After this meeting with Putin, we hope to also discuss the peace plan with US President Donald Trump. Peace is already within reach, we can see it,” he noted.

The Turkish President added that the parties discussed Ankara’s possible contribution to the peace process and positively assessed the dialogue that had begun thanks to the efforts of the US President.

“We welcome the dialogue initiated by President Trump’s initiatives,” Erdogan concluded.

Earlier, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov reported that the Kremlin had not received official information about negotiations involving the United States, Ukraine, and European countries in Geneva.

As a reminder, the full text of the European counter-draft to the American 28-point peace plan for Ukraine was released in Brussels . The document, prepared by the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, proposes amendments to each point of the basic plan.
