Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that Russia is sending Ukrainian drones into the airspace of the Baltic states. According to him, the Russian Federation is using these incidents to weaken support for Ukraine from its allies.
This is reported by “European Truth” .
Before the start of the meeting of NATO foreign ministers, Tsakhkna stated that in recent weeks, Ukrainian drones have been flying into Estonian airspace more and more frequently.
“Over the past few weeks, more and more drones have been flying into our territory – these are Ukrainian drones, but Russia is responsible for this. After all, it is Russia that is waging an aggressive war against Ukraine and it is Russia that is sending these drones into NATO territory,” said Margus Tsakhkna.
According to the minister, Russia uses such incidents to force allies to put pressure on Ukraine and weaken support for Kyiv. Margus Tsakhkna also stressed that Ukraine has the right to strike at Russian territory.
“I want to assure you that Ukraine has every right to attack these targets deep inside Russia that are helping to wage this war of aggression against it. So I think Ukraine is continuing. Of course, they should be more careful. But all responsibility in this matter lies with Russia,” Tsakhkna said.
The Estonian Foreign Minister also stated that such cases should serve as a basis for increasing pressure on Russia.
“Putin is trying to split the unity of the West, and also to force us all to put more pressure on Ukraine, to stop these attacks, “long-range” sanctions, as Ukrainians say. So this is the right way forward – to put more pressure on Russia,” concluded Margus Tsakhkna.
Recall that a NATO fighter jet patrolling the airspace in the Baltic region shot down a drone over the territory of Estonia . The incident occurred over Lake Võrtsjärv in the south of the country.
Earlier, Latvia recorded violations of airspace by drones , which, according to preliminary data, flew in from Russia. One of the drones fell on the territory of oil infrastructure in the city of Rezekne and hit a tank.
