Estonia will allocate funds for the purchase of Starlink for Ukraine.
Estonia will provide Ukraine with €3.5 million for the acquisition of Starlink communications systems. The funding will be channeled through the Estonia-Luxembourg IT Coalition, which is developing the digital and technological capabilities of Ukraine’s defense forces.
ERR reports this.
“Ukraine has confirmed the need for support to ensure the operation of Starlink, which provides a significant tactical advantage on the battlefield. Starlink’s capabilities are especially important given Ukraine’s intention to significantly expand its drone units, which require high-speed internet connections,” Pevkur stated.
He emphasized that Ukraine fights daily for the freedom of all of Europe, including Estonia, and therefore technological support is no less important than arms supplies.
In 2025, Estonia provided military aid to Ukraine equivalent to nearly 0.3% of its GDP. This support included equipment purchases through Estonian companies, training programs with the Estonian Defence Forces, and the development of Ukraine’s IT potential through a dedicated coalition.
The new aid package is designed to strengthen Ukraine’s troop command and control capabilities and the operation of drone units, which are critically dependent on stable satellite communications.
As a reminder, Polish President Karol Nawrocki signed a law providing for further funding of subscription fees for Starlink terminals in Ukraine.
