Estonia will allocate two million euros to restore Ukrainian energy infrastructure and ensure reliable supply.
This was reported by ERR.
To this end, Estonia has made a contribution to the Energy Fund of Ukraine. The allocated funds will cover the needs of energy enterprises, including the purchase of spare parts, generators and fuel, as well as emergency repair work.
As noted, the Russian army has attacked Ukraine’s energy sector more than a thousand times since the start of the full-scale invasion in an attempt to paralyze it. Therefore, the Estonian Ministry of Climate has stated that covering peak consumption in the winter period is impossible without international assistance.
“Estonia’s support for Ukraine is consistent and long-term. Today, Ukraine’s energy sector is not just a sector of the economy, but a matter of survival. Every restored substation, every working generator means a warm house, a functioning hospital, and a functioning society,” emphasized Minister of Energy and Environment Andres Sut.
Earlier, against the backdrop of Russian attacks on Ukrainian energy, the German government announced the allocation of additional funds to protect infrastructure .
As a reminder, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with a new aid package to restore its energy infrastructure . Lithuanian grid operator Litgrid has assembled equipment in various regions of the country and delivered it to Ukrainian energy companies.
