At the initiative of Vladimir Putin, state support for scientific projects aimed at combating aging has significantly increased in Russia.

This is reported by Le Monde.

Russian propagandists and Kremlin insiders often portray Putin as “always working.” In particular, media outlets have claimed that on October 7, his 73rd birthday, he will be working as usual and will hold an “operational” meeting of the National Security Council.

Le Monde notes that under a 2020 constitutional reform, Putin could remain in power until 2036, when he will be 83. During a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in September, the potential of biotechnology to extend life was discussed. Putin said at the time that organ transplants would become a continuous procedure and allow people to move closer to immortality, according to Bloomberg.

In addition, Putin has publicly expressed his belief that people can live to be 150. According to journalists, thanks to his initiative, the number of state projects in this area has increased sixfold: from 7 in 2016–2022 with funding of 21 million rubles, in 2021–2025 there will be 43 projects worth 172 million rubles.

As a reminder, on the sidelines of the celebrations in Beijing dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan in World War II, an unexpected moment occurred that caused quite a stir. While climbing Tiananmen Gate, the leaders of China, Russia and North Korea — Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un — were accidentally recorded on a microphone during a personal conversation, the topic of which was longevity and even potential immortality.

As reported, thanks to revolutionary advances in biotechnology, from cell regeneration to artificial intelligence, science is beginning to open the door to eternal, or at least extremely long, life.
