The foreign ministers of the European Union countries have not reached an agreement on the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.

This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaia Kallas, at a press conference after the meeting.

“Unfortunately, we were unable to reach an agreement on the 20th package of sanctions. This is a failure and a signal that we did not want to send today, but the work continues,” she said.

Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that Budapest was ready to veto the new sanctions package.

According to him, Hungary will not support decisions important to Kyiv until Ukraine resumes oil transit to Hungary and Slovakia through the Druzhba oil pipeline.

Thus, the 20th package of sanctions remains uncoordinated, and negotiations between EU countries are ongoing.

As a reminder, the European Commission is demanding that Ukraine set clear deadlines for repairing the Druzhba pipeline. The pipeline supplied Russian oil to Europe and was damaged at the beginning of the year.
