On January 29, the European Union imposed personal sanctions against several prominent Russian propagandists. These are TV presenters and journalists who systematically support Russia’s war against Ukraine.
This is stated in the EU Council decision.
The sanctions list includes TV presenters Ekaterina Andreeva and Maria Sittel, sports commentator Dmitry Guberniev, and journalist Pavlo Zarubin. All of them were banned from entering the European Union and had their possible assets in European banks frozen.
In addition to representatives of the Russian media, restrictions were also imposed against ballet dancer Sergei Polunin and actor and singer Roman Chumakov.
The EU notes that these sanctions are a response to actions that contribute to the destabilization of the situation and the spread of propaganda.
As previously reported, Ukraine implemented a decision to impose new sanctions against Russia on January 17. The restrictions included the Russian Paralympic Committee, the Russian Esports Federation, and a number of individuals.
