EU invested 400 million euros in demining Ukraine: details
The European Union, together with international partners, has already invested 400 million euros in demining the territories of Ukraine.
This is reported by Ukrinform.
Peter Wagner, Head of the European Commission’s Foreign Policy Instruments Service, said that a significant portion of these funds is directed to the Mykolaiv region, where large areas remain contaminated with mines and explosive devices. According to him, work to clear the territories is actively underway.
The second area of assistance is winter preparation: the EU is providing communities with electricity and water purification systems. 15 water purification stations have already been installed in the Mykolaiv region , as well as solar panels that allow them to operate even during power outages.
EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Maternova stressed that the European Union remains Ukraine’s largest partner. Since the start of the full-scale war, the EU has allocated over 180 billion euros in humanitarian, financial and military assistance. She also noted that Mykolaiv Oblast is the region with the largest number of EU projects in the country.
It was previously reported that Spain plans to provide Ukraine with about a billion euros in aid.
As a reminder, the International Monetary Fund has offered Ukraine a new credit program worth $8 billion.
