EU loan of 90 billion euros for Ukraine may be agreed in the coming days

The issue of providing Ukraine with a 90 billion euro European Union loan may be resolved in the coming days – before the European Council meeting on March 19-20 .
This was reported by a spokeswoman for the European Commission.
According to the European Commission’s chief spokeswoman , Paula Pinho, negotiations are ongoing and the parties expect progress in the near future.
“We hope and are confident that we will soon see some progress in these negotiations. Ideally , this should happen before the European Council meeting ,” she said .
The European Commission notes that the positive signal came after Ukraine agreed to accept EU technical and financial assistance for the repair of the Druzhba oil pipeline .
Pinho clarified that the European Union is ready to send an expert to Ukraine who will check the implementation of the pipeline restoration work and help restore oil supplies .
It is expected that the loan issue may be considered during the European Council meeting scheduled for March 19-20 .
It was previously reported that a Hungarian delegation led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Gabor Čepek left for Ukraine , where it plans to hold negotiations on the restoration of the Druzhba oil pipeline and inspect its condition.
As a reminder, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is ready to unblock an EU loan for Ukraine of 90 billion euros if the European Commission approves Budapest’s application for a defense loan of 16 billion euros under the SAFE instrument.
