The EU will impose new sanctions against Russia if Putin refuses to participate in a trilateral meeting with the presidents of Ukraine and the United States.

This was reported in The Telegraph.

The Telegraph’s sources among EU government officials note that the slowdown in the issue of the Putin-Zelensky meeting could be a reason for the introduction of new restrictions.

“If Putin delays, evades or refuses to negotiate, it will be another reason to impose sanctions,” said a senior source familiar with the White House discussions.

In addition, Zelensky called on the world to impose sanctions if Putin refuses to participate in the trilateral meeting of presidents.

It was previously reported that a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin could take place in the coming weeks . According to European diplomatic sources, Hungary is being considered as a potential venue for the talks.

As a reminder, multilateral talks involving US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and leaders of key European countries have concluded in Washington. The central topic of the discussions was the prospect of ending the war in Ukraine and launching a new peace process initiated by Washington.
