The European Union will begin to apply a dynamic price ceiling for Russian oil from September 3, 2025. The corresponding formula is defined within the 18th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation.

This was reported by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary of the European Commission, Arianna Podesta, in a commentary to European Pravda.

According to her, the new mechanism provides for automatic adaptation of the upper price limit to market conditions, which should increase the effectiveness of sanctions pressure.

“Most of the provisions of the 18th sanctions package have already been in effect since mid-July. The ban on transactions with 22 new Russian banks will come into effect on August 8,” Podesta recalled.

Earlier,US President Donald Trump said that Russia has 10 days to reach an agreement on the war in Ukraine and. In case of refusal, Washington will introduce new economic restrictions, including tariffs.

By the way, US President Donald Trump said that he is no longer interested in meeting with Russian dictator Putin.

Recall that on July 28, US President Donald Trump said he planned to shorten the time Russian dictator Vladimir Putin had given for a ceasefire in Ukraine. The day before, Donald Trump’s administration announced that it would impose secondary sanctions and tariffs against Russia if a ceasefire was not reached in Ukraine within 50 days.
