The Ukrainian currency market is once again recording a record growth of the euro. The National Bank of Ukraine has set the official exchange rate of the European currency at 48.64 UAH/euro, which has become a new historical maximum. Thus, the euro has risen in price by another 32 kopecks in just 24 hours.
This is stated on the NBU website .
It is noted that the previous record was recorded two days ago — on June 25 — when the euro rate reached UAH 48.51. However, the situation has already surpassed these marks, indicating a prolonged depreciation of the hryvnia against the European currency.
Exchange rates on June 27:
- Euro: 48.64 UAH/€.
- US dollar: 41.59 UAH/$ (the hryvnia strengthened against the dollar by 7–8 kopecks, but lost ground against the euro).
On the interbank market, prices remain at a similar level — 48.63/48.65 UAH/euro, which indicates stable demand for the European currency among banks and importers.
There are several reasons for the appreciation of the currency:
- Strengthening of the euro on global markets : The European currency is strengthening against the backdrop of the stabilization of the eurozone economy and expectations of new ECB decisions.
- Demand for currency in Ukraine : due to active imports, the holiday season, as well as increased purchases abroad, especially in the defense sector.
- Speculative component : some banks and currency traders are trying to play on the rise in the euro exchange rate, which is heating up the situation even more.
It is worth adding that the growth of the euro exchange rate directly affects prices in Ukraine, since a significant part of goods and services, especially in the import sector, are calculated in this currency. This applies to:
- Cars;
- Techniques;
- Medical drugs;
- Food products;
- Clothing and shoes.
It also complicates business financial calculations and creates inflationary pressure, as import costs increase.
Experts expect that the upward trend in the euro exchange rate may persist in the coming weeks if the NBU fails to curb speculative demand or the situation on foreign currency markets does not change. The further movement of the euro against the dollar will be especially important – the euro is currently actively strengthening on a global scale.
Recall that the National Bank of Ukraine recorded a new historical maximum for the euro — 48.5084 UAH/€ — setting this rate for Wednesday, June 25.
Earlier, on June 12, the National Bank of Ukraine lowered the dollar exchange rate to the hryvnia, andthe euro rose by more than 60 kopecks and renewed its historical maximum.
By the way, the National Bank recorded the highest monthly inflation in 2025. In May, inflation increased to almost 16 percent.
