The European Union is considering trade measures aimed at restricting imports of Russian oil through the Druzhba gas pipeline, which is used by Hungary and Slovakia.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

According to sources, restrictions on imports through Druzhba will significantly affect oil supplies to Slovakia and Hungary or completely stop them.

It is known that these plans are not included in the 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia, adopted on September 19.

At the same time, European ambassadors were briefed on the sanctions proposals, but they declined to provide details on the timing and scope of possible trade measures.

Bloomberg notes that such measures do not require coordination with all EU countries, but require the support of most capitals.

Stopping the gas pipeline would allow Europe to fulfill a key demand of US President Donald Trump, who said that the EU should stop buying Russian resources.

Earlier, Petro Poroshenko called for a halt to the transportation of Russian oil through the territory of Ukraine, as this gives the aggressor state additional resources for war.

As a reminder, Petro Poroshenko stated that Ukraine should stop the supply of Russian oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline – a transit through which the aggressor state receives billions for war.
