Europe still believes in the myth of “good Russians”

I will write separately. I consider it a big mistake to form a platform for dialogue between the Assembly and “Russian democratic forces in exile” on the PACE site. And I don’t know how the Ukrainian delegation could have allowed this, missed it, and supported it.

Russian tour guides, who have never apologized to Ukraine for the crimes of their country and people, are promoting deeply dangerous theses about the responsibility of only Putin, and not all Russians, for the war, and about the need to ease the sanctions that ordinary Russians suffer from.

Now they will get a platform in PACE. On a permanent basis, Navalny, Nemtsov, Kara-Murza and others will promote narratives about the need to ease sanctions that affect “ordinary Russians”, lift asset freezes, fund “Russian liberal media” instead of Radio Liberty, and other nonsense.

In Europe, there is a real boom in interest in good Russians, and PACE, which institutionalizes them, I am afraid, will only strengthen this legalization.

Once, when the entire PACE supported the embittered President of the Assembly Agramont, who visited Assad in Syria with the Russian delegation, our Ukrainian delegation demanded his resignation. We were looked at as marginals, how could that be, he is the President of the Assembly! But time has proven that we were right, and Agramont was shamefully removed from office – for abuse and corruption. We simply saw deeper and understood the consequences of cavorting with the Russians and Assad, the inadmissibility of letting this happen.

The Ukrainian delegation should not be afraid of misunderstanding from European colleagues. Our job is to make the Russians untouchable. Not to help make a victim out of the aggressor! I am outraged by this decision and this position. When Ukrainians all over the world block Netrebko, we must block Navalny and co.

I will do everything to convey my opinion to both the Ukrainian delegation and European partners. There are no Russian liberals, they are pure migrant workers, incapable of changing themselves, their country, and their people. And we should not help them build their careers in Europe on the bones of Ukrainians. Phew.
