Europe wants to restart talks between Ukraine and Russia with the participation of the US – media

European leaders plan to discuss with US President Donald Trump the possibility of a new round of talks between Ukraine and Russia at the G7 summit, hoping to persuade Washington to support a common approach to ending the war.

Bloomberg writes about this, citing sources.

In London, according to interlocutors, the leaders of Great Britain, France, and Germany came to the conclusion that the situation on the front has recently changed and become more favorable for Ukraine. This, in their opinion, could create the conditions for diplomatic progress.

The European idea is to start negotiations with the de facto recognition of the current front line as a starting point. Security guarantees for Ukraine, including the possible involvement of international forces, are also being discussed.

“We are talking about an attempt to return the negotiations to a working plane, where real solutions are possible,” the sources note.

At the same time, Europe wants to regain a more active role in these processes, as previous attempts at US-led peace negotiations have effectively stalled.

Separately, it is reported that European countries are preparing new sanctions against Russia, which may be adopted in the near future, although final decisions have not yet been made.
