European leaders are haunted by problems with planes: the Prime Minister of Spain has been added to the list

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez was unable to attend a summit of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris in person due to a technical problem with his plane, the third such incident involving European leaders in a week, raising questions about the safety of high-ranking flights in the region.

It is noted that Pedro Sanchez was heading to Paris, where he was supposed to participate in the summit of the Coalition of the Willing. However, during the flight, a technical malfunction occurred, which forced the Prime Minister’s plane to return to Madrid. As his office clarified, Sanchez will join the event via video conference.

This incident is the third air accident in a week involving European Union leaders. Earlier, the plane of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen suffered from interference in navigation systems. According to media reports, the cause was GPS interference, allegedly related to Russian equipment. Although there is no direct confirmation of a deliberate attack, the incident drew attention to the problem of security of European officials during flights.

The day before, the plane of Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda also encountered problems: during its approach to Vilnius, it was unable to land immediately due to a report of a possible threat from a drone. The situation was resolved, but the incident raised additional concerns in the field of aviation safety.

Thus, in the space of a week, three European leaders — Pedro Sanchez, Ursula von der Leyen, and Gitanas Nauseda — have encountered problems while flying, fueling a debate about potential threats from Russia and the need for better protection for the flights of EU heads of state and government.
