European Parliament calls on Ukraine not to stop reforms and guarantee parliamentary pluralism – Poroshenko

The fifth President of Ukraine and leader of European Solidarity, Petro Poroshenko, stated in Strasbourg that the European Parliament, in its resolution, separately emphasized the importance of reforms, democracy, and adherence to the Constitution in Ukraine.

Petro Poroshenko reported that the European Parliament resolution called on Ukraine and its government to keep up with the pace of reforms. He emphasized that the document recalls that, according to generally recognized democratic principles and the Constitution of Ukraine, elections cannot be held during war and under martial law.

According to Poroshenko, the European Parliament emphasized that “democratic elections require sufficient time for preparation and access to information to meet international standards.”

He also noted that the resolution calls on the Ukrainian authorities to refrain from untimely and politically motivated legal proceedings and sanctions against opposition representatives.

“The European Parliament demands to preserve parliamentary pluralism and promote constructive dialogue between political factions in the Verkhovna Rada,” Poroshenko concluded.
