“European Solidarity” demands to stop secondary expenditures in the capital and immediately direct funds to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, defense and protection of Kyiv
The European Solidarity faction in the Kyiv City Council proposes to review the capital’s budget expenditures and find at least UAH 1 billion in addition to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the defense of Kyiv. The money is proposed to be directed, in particular, to air defense and electronic warfare equipment.
This was announced by the European Solidarity faction.
Deputies conducted an audit of the city’s planned expenditures and identified projects that, in their opinion, can now be paused, reduced, or postponed.
This includes, in particular, part of the costs for landscaping and environmental programs, asphalting, construction and repairs. The faction notes that some of these projects are not actually being implemented now, while others can wait.
Eurosolidarity proposes to transfer the released money to the needs of the military, strengthening air defense, purchasing electronic warfare equipment, and other measures to protect Kyiv.
“What can wait must wait. Defense and security of people cannot,” the faction emphasized.
European Solidarity noted that Kyiv continues to live under constant threat of Russian missile and drone attacks. Therefore, according to the deputies, the capital’s budget during the war should primarily work for the army and the security of Kyiv residents.
At the same time, the faction emphasizes that they are not proposing to abandon the development of the city. It is about postponing projects that are not currently a priority and directing money to where it is needed most.
The faction has already sent the relevant draft decision to the Kyiv City Mayor. Eurosolidarity proposes to submit it for consideration at the nearest plenary session of the Kyiv City Council.
“Our position is clear: secondary expenditures are on hold. The maximum possible resource is for the Armed Forces and strengthening the defense of the capital,” the faction said.
