Eurosolidarity calls on the world to react harshly to Russia’s genocidal practices

Deputies of the European Solidarity faction visited the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and the Mystetsky Arsenal, which were damaged during another Russian attack on Kyiv. The faction called on the international community to react harshly to attacks on Ukraine’s cultural heritage.

This is reported by “European Solidarity”.

Co-chair of the faction Iryna Gerashchenko called Russia’s actions cultural genocide.

“This is cultural genocide, this is an attempt to destroy Ukrainian identity, an attempt to erase our history, our culture. We will do everything to ensure that Russia is punished,” she stressed.

Gerashchenko also called on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to initiate consideration of this issue at the level of the UN Security Council.

The head of the parliamentary committee on Ukraine’s integration into the EU, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, drew attention to the fact that the attack occurred on the eve of the opening of the first negotiation cluster “Fundamentals” within the framework of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.

“Russia cannot survive the irreversibility of our European choice and is trying to destroy our future in this way,” the deputy noted.

She also emphasized that the destruction of Ukrainian cultural monuments should be the subject of consideration by an international special tribunal and a reason for further strengthening support for Ukraine.

People’s Deputy Rostyslav Pavlenko stated that the response to such attacks should be the maximum strengthening of the Ukrainian army.

“It is necessary to give the Armed Forces of Ukraine all the necessary resources to punish the aggressor with strikes on its military machine, logistics, and enterprises that work for the war,” Pavlenko said.

European Solidarity also called on the authorities to return to the Ministry of Defense 40 billion UAH, which were previously withdrawn from the defense budget.

“These funds should work to strengthen air defense and become an additional shield for Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities,” emphasized Iryna Gerashchenko.

The faction also advocated further strengthening sanctions against Russia and expanding restrictions on all those involved in the war against Ukraine.

“The world must see the barbarity that Russia is committing. The best response to it is more air defense for Ukraine and tougher sanctions against the aggressor,” Gerashchenko emphasized.

European Solidarity deputies thanked the Ukrainian military and rescuers who work every day to protect people and preserve Ukrainian cultural heritage.

By the way, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga reacted to the Russian attack on the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv. Ukraine is initiating procedures within the framework of UNESCO and calls on the international community to respond decisively.

As a reminder, UNESCO condemned the Russian attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra , which is one of the main spiritual and cultural shrines of Ukraine and is included in the World Heritage List.
